An Overview of Excellence

Excellence is the standard that is applied when human life and health are involved. In the world of medical devices and supplies, the cornerstones of excellence are dependability, predictability and consistency.

At Terumo Medical Corporation, these three qualities have guided us to success as a manufacturer and marketer of more than 1,500 medical products.

From superior quality needles and syringes to innovative blood oxygenators that are a crucial link in the chain of cardiovascular surgical products, Terumo applies a high standard of excellence to every product and area of healthcare we touch.

Steeped in Tradition Powered by Achievement

Terumo has distinguished itself as a high quality manufacturer of medical products, operating four factories and 38 sales branches in Japan, as well as 31 other locations. The company generates annual sales surpassing $1.5 billion and employs 7,500 people worldwide.

Over the years, Terumo has continually merged its superb knowledge of raw materials and manufacturing with medical research leadership. In the early to mid-1960's, the company pioneered the development of disposable medical products, offering innovative plastic syringes, single-use needles, evacuated blood collection tubes and more.

Leadership in hollow fiber technology during the 1970's helped spur Terumo's introduction of hollow fiber dialyzers and oxygenators, while the company expanded its global presence by establishing, manufacturing and marketing companies in the United States and Europe.

The 1980's saw Terumo bring to market innovative new products for dialysis, angiography and other technically challenging fields as worldwide growth continued.

In the 1990's, Terumo has continued to exhibit exemplary strength in all of its undertakings, with continued introduction of highly valued and well respected new products in addition to the formation of strategic alliances that ensure continued success and innovation for Terumo Corporation.

These pursuits yield fruitful results that lead directly to safer, more effective, useful and versatile products to benefit patients and healthcare providers.

Dependability, Predictability and Consistency in Manufacturing

Terumo's superior manufacturing processes are a vivid example of the success that can be attained when people focus on quality.

We apply the strictest standards of quality and control to every item we manufacture.

Often this involves development and production of proprietary materials, such as resins, polymers and coatings that we engineer to deliver characteristics which providers and patients prefer.

Rightly, the healthcare community demands products they can depend upon to deliver the expected benefit, time after time, with no variance.

Terumo delivers this performance – dependably, predictably, and consistently.
